According to foreign media, a unique method was adopted in India to smuggle gold, but the customs authorities caught it.
The customs officer said that the accused had soaked 5 towels in molten gold water and stored them in a plastic bag, which was trying to be smuggled from the airport of the Indian state of Kerala, but he was foiled by taking timely action.
Customs officials said that they suspected that the towel was wet, but the accused could not give a satisfactory answer, on which further action was taken.
According to the customs officials, the accused was identified as 26-year-old Fahad, who belongs to the Indian state of Kerala, and he had brought the gold from Dubai, which was intercepted at the airport.
Customs officials said that this is the first time they have seen this incident of smuggling of precious metal. This method is being used to find out how much gold is hidden in gold smuggling.
