In Punjab, cases were registered against 6 sugar mills that did not start crushing from November 25.
On the instructions of Cane Commissioner Punjab Hussain Bahadur, cases have been registered against sugar mills in Bhakkar, Patuki, Okara, Bahalingar and Jhang for not starting crushing.
On the instructions of Ken Kushman Punjab, against Ghulam Ahmad Adam, owner of Adamji Sugar Mills Bahawalnagar, Faizan Farrukh Lashari, General Manager of Patuki Sugar Mills, Mian Haseeb Ilyas, owner of Abdullah Sugar Mills Okara and Altaf Saleem, owner of Shakarganj Sugar Mills One, Two Jhang. Cases have been filed,
According to the FIRs lodged against the sugar mill owners, these sugar mills have violated the Sugar Cane Act by not starting crushing of sugarcane till November 25.
These sugar mills can be fined Rs 10 to 50 lakh per day or imprisoned for 3 years.
