Unnecessary censorship suffocates society: Sindh High Court/Photophile

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has rejected the petition against the release of the film “Joyland”.

A hearing was held in the Sindh High Court against the request of the film Joyland, during which the court gave a safe decision against the release of the film Joyland.

During the hearing, the court said that unnecessary censorship suffocates the society, unnecessary censorship stops the creativity of the society.

The court said that the Censor Board issued the exhibition certificate after reviewing the film as per the rules, freedom of expression cannot be restricted because of one person.

The court made it clear that the High Court has no authority to ban the freedom of expression of the filmmaker, every citizen has the right to freedom of expression, the Censor Board or the relevant body has the authority to ban the film.

The court rejected the petition against the release of the film while giving a safe verdict.
