This year, the number of firearms seized from passengers at American airports reached a record level.

Officials say that as of mid-December, the number of firearms seized from passengers at US airports had reached 6,301, with 88 percent of them loaded.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials say about 6,600 weapons are expected to be confiscated by the end of this year, a 10 percent increase from 5,972 in 2021.

The agency says that the weapons brought to the airports are bought with precious resources of the people and are quite expensive.

Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Georgia had the highest number of weapons seized, while Fort Worth Airport in Dallas, Texas was second. They are quite expensive.

Gun laws vary widely across states, but while firearms are not allowed in the passenger cabin of an airplane, the TSA has not explained why more people are carrying them. Tried to get security clearance by carrying weapons with you?
