A steering committee was established to implement the decision of the Federal Sharia Court for the abolition of interest and Islamic banking.
According to the announcement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the steering committee will be patronized by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, the chairman of the steering committee will be the governor of State Bank.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Secretary Finance, Chairman SECP Steering Committee will be members, Chairman Pakistan Banks Association, Deputy Governor State Bank will also be members of the committee.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Maulana Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Irshad Ahmed Ejaz, Mansoorul Rahman will also be members of the steering committee.
Apart from this, Ashfaq Tola, Khozam A Haider Mota, former Governor State Bank Saeed Ahmed will be the members of the committee.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the steering committee will provide guidance in legal and regulatory reforms, the committee will provide guidance in the steps required to implement the decision of the Federal Sharia Court, the executive director of the State Bank will be the secretary of the Islamic Banking Steering Committee.
