35 people, including 8 members of the same family, were killed and more than 40 injured in two car bomb blasts in the city of Mahas, Somalia.

According to foreign media, the Mahas police chief says that the majority of those killed in the bomb blasts are civilians, while women and children are also included in the dead.

According to the police chief, one car bomb was detonated outside his house to target him while the other was detonated outside the house of a member of the Federal Legislative Assembly.

The police chief of Minhas said that the explosions in the city of Mahas in central Somalia were carried out by al-Shabaab, a terrorist group linked to al-Qaeda.
