Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has announced that he is dissociating himself from the film ‘Rawalpindi Express’, which is made on his life.
In a message on Instagram, Shoaib Akhtar said, ‘With great sadness, I want to inform you all that after months of deliberation, I have decided to disassociate myself from the film Rawalpindi Express and its makers. and through my management and legal team I have terminated the contract.’
Shoaib Akhtar further wrote: ‘Of course it was a dream project and I tried hard to be involved but unfortunately things didn’t work out.’
“Failure to resolve differences amicably and repeated breaches of contract eventually forced me to sever ties with them,” he said.
The fast bowler popularly known as Rawalpindi Express said, “That’s why I left the project. I have fulfilled all legal requirements on this matter and canceled the rights given to me regarding the use of my life story.”
Shoaib Akhtar warned that ‘strict legal action will be taken if the filmmakers go ahead with the biographical film and use my name or my life story in any way. ‘
It should be noted that in July last year, Shoaib Akhtar confirmed that a film will be made on his life, the shooting of which has started.
The name of the actor playing the lead role in the film ‘Rawalpindi Express’, based on the life of Pakistan’s former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, was also revealed.
Umeer Jaswal was selected for the role of Shoaib Akhtar, who shared a glimpse of the role of the film on social media accounts.
Umeer wrote in his post, “Excited and happy to announce to you all that in Rawalpindi Express, I will be playing the role of Shoaib Akhtar. Proud to play the role of legend Shoaib Akhtar on the big screen.”
It should be noted that Shoaib Akhtar, popularly known as Rawalpindi Express, started his career against West Indies in December 1997.
