8 out of every 10 people in China have been infected with Covid-19.

This claim was made by Wu Xunyu, head of the epidemiology department of China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in a post on social media site Weibo.

He said that during the recent wave of Covid-19, 80% of China’s population has been exposed to this disease.

His claim came at a time when fears of a Covid-19 outbreak during the Lunar New Year holiday in China are on the rise.

Wu Xunyu dismissed these concerns, saying that it does not seem possible because already too many people have been exposed to the disease in a country of more than 1.4 billion people.

He said that the chances of a large-scale resurgence of Covid-19 during the next 2 to 3 months are very low.

Earlier, it was reported that around 13,000 new deaths from Corona were recorded across China from January 13 to 19, these deaths do not include deaths at homes.

According to the news agency, since the end of corona restrictions, there has been a rush of corona patients in Chinese hospitals, for which experts have already warned that the wave of Covid-19 is on the rise in China.

It was further reported by the news agency that about 60,000 deaths were reported in hospitals in China between January 8 and 12.
