The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that the Staff Level Agreement with Pakistan will be signed soon.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar attended IMF and World Bank meetings via video link.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Finance, the IMF team was led by the Director Middle East and Central Asia. In the meeting, the progress in the ongoing program of the IMF was discussed, besides the visit of the IMF mission to Pakistan and the advance. There was a discussion regarding the implementation of measures.

The Finance Minister said that due to important domestic engagements, the Prime Minister instructed him to stay in Pakistan, and on the instructions of the Prime Minister, he had to cancel his visit to Washington to attend the IMF meeting.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Finance, the Finance Minister informed about the economic challenges facing the country and the vision of the government to bring macroeconomic stability in the country.

The finance ministry said that the finance minister informed about the completion of all the preliminary steps for the 9th review and said that he is determined to fulfill all the obligations agreed with the IMF.

According to the IMF director, the staff-level agreement will be signed soon after which the board will approve it.

He said that it is hoped that Pakistan will continue to make progress on reforms in various sectors and complete the IMF program on time.

He said that IMF will play its positive role in bringing economic stability in Pakistan.
