According to the Reporters Without Borders report, this year in the World Press Freedom Index, India has dropped 11 ranks to 161st place, while Pakistan has risen 7 ranks to 150th place.

The report states that Pakistan’s progress in the World Press Freedom Index is due to the positive initiatives of the current government.

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the journalists and said that despite the challenges and dangers, journalists never lose sight of their responsibilities.

He said that the watchdog role of journalism has destroyed the ideals of democracy and transparent governance.
