Kabul: Maulvi Abdul Kabir has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Afghanistan.

According to Afghan media, the supreme leader of the Taliban, Malahibatullah Akhundzada, has appointed Maulvi Abdul Kabir as the new interim prime minister.

Maulvi Abdul Kabir will temporarily take over the position of Prime Minister in place of Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund.

Afghan media say that Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund has been sick for some time and is unable to perform official duties, that is why Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Afghanistan.
